About our Beans & Roasting Process
From the red fruits of coffee trees in South America and Africa our shade grown beans stand for quality. The different environments lend themselves to unique flavors our roasters bring out by caramelizing the natural sugars within the beans during roasting. With flavors ranging from our smooth Columbia, the nutty features of Guatemala, slight chocolaty taste of Mexico, to the rich milky Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, the robust flavors of Sumatra and Peru, and many more! With Light, Medium, Espresso, and Dark roasts available your perfect cup of coffee is just a quick brew away.
Our baristas are happy to help you get your morning started with a quick cup, pour overs, lattes, or nitro cold brew on tap. We have kombucha for a refreshing afternoon and teatime is whenever you want it to be (though especially during our bimonthly tea sits). Our shelves are lined with fresh roasted coffee and brewing accessories and we have tacos and baked delicacies waiting for you!
Our Roasting Process
At redbud we’ve chosen to use the flavorful Arabica variety of coffee bean over the bitter Robusta beans. This allows us to get delicious flavors at all levels of roast, instead of relying on over roasting to get palatable flavors. Our espresso roast is a testament to this, as we follow a northern Italian tradition which is based around Arabica beans as opposed to the southern Italian style which is vaguely reminiscent of charcoal.
The decaf is done by the "Swiss Water Process" (SWP) or the "Mountain Water Process" (MWP), which utilizes only carbon-filtered water. There are no harsh chemicals involved.
Our Coffee Beans
All of our coffee roasts are created from certified fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee beans from all over the globe. From Indonesia in the east, to peru in the west, and everything in between. We take pride in our coffee roasts and pledge to serve only the finest, top quality coffee to all of central texas and all over the world. Enjoy your coffee and feel good about it, knowing that it is ethically sourced and operated under the fair trade certification guidelines. We care about our coffee and those who grow it.
Why Shade Grown? Shade grown coffee requires little or no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. The shade trees filter carbon dioxide which causes global warming, and aid in soil moisture retention which minimizes erosion. Provides bird habitat and greater biodiversity.
